It has truly been an honor to represent you in Congress over the past fourteen years. Together we were able to make considerable progress in a number of areas. Balancing the national budget for four straight years, when Congress hadn’t done so once in 30 years, was a highlight. My contribution to this effort was illustrated by the fact that I had the highest lifetime score by Citizens Against Government Waste for voting against wasteful spending. As Chairman of the Constitution Subcommittee I was honored to oversee the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act. The most significant accomplishment of my career was authoring the Ban of Partial Birth Abortion Act, which was signed into law by President George W. Bush, upheld by the United States Supreme Court, and is now the law of the land. Most importantly, the legislation will save the lives of an estimated 10-20,000 unborn babies each year.
It is impossible to predict what the future may hold, but it’s my intention to continue to serve our community in some worthwhile capacity. Thank you for giving me the great honor to server as your Representative in Congress.
Sincerely,
Steve Chabot
